Selling Out Online
It wasn’t that long ago that I was shopping for a new-to-me car. I don’t know if you’ve been car shopping recently but, let me tell you, the internet has revolutionized the shopping experience for me. I’m actually a guy that likes looking at cars. And if they’re old cars, well, then I love looking at them. Ironically, though, I really dislike shopping for cars. You know, when you’re really in the market for a car. If you’re anything like me, the research and the decision making can get pretty consuming.
A big part of what I dislike about buying a car is feeling like the person on the other end is really trying to sell me a car. That’s where the internet really changes things. I can lookup values, compare car features, and check inventory all from the comfort of my own home. And if I know the exact car I’m looking for and there’s nothing nearby, there’s nothing to stop me from expanding my search. For instance, if I’m looking for a 1963 Ford Falcon convertible, my chances of finding one at a local ford dealer may be pretty slim. Even finding one in the state may be difficult…especially if I’m looking for a specific color (red, of course) or the Sprint model with a four-on-the-floor manual transmission. Well, to find one of those, I may need to go as far as a Ford Dealer Seattle. In this case, I could even chat online with a someone about the car. Somehow, that seems less intimidating than being face to face with a salesperson. Maybe it’s that trick you learned when you had to speak in front of a group. You know, imagine the audience in their underwear and you won’t be intimidated by them. For me, I imagine that the person I’m chatting with is in a clown suit and sitting on a penny-pony ride.
Ok, so this Seattle Ford Dealer doesn’t have a 1963 Ford Falcon Convertible. But, they do have a nice site, a cool chat feature, and some pretty useful car maintenance tips under their FAQ menu. They also have information on this rather cool small commercial van.
